Code of Conduct

Delegates and advisors must obey directions from the TJMUN secretariat and staff members, as well as Instituto Thomas Jefferson’s faculty members, at all times. If a delegate violates any regulation established in the code of conduct, the TJMUN staff reserves the right to either deliver a warning or dismiss the person in question from the event.

The rules of procedure are intended to facilitate the efficiency and flow of the debate. Delegates must thoroughly understand these rules, including when and how appropriately to use them, as well as any specific rules of a committee. Delegates are expected to behave diplomatically during the debate by avoiding redundant, inadequate, or time-consuming motions.

The rules can be found here:

Dress Code

TJMUN places a great emphasis on the dress code because it is vital to establishing the accuracy of the simulation and to uphold the conference atmosphere that allows delegates to play the roles of diplomats. Delegates are expected to dress in a professional manner. TJMUN staff has the final word in matters of the dress code. If a delegate is inappropriately dressed, they will be asked to change clothes before being allowed to engage in conference activities.

Your outfit can be a way to express yourself and have fun. However, deciding what to wear might be confusing or even stressful for some delegates. We hope this guide helps you to clarify your questions!

All clothing should be clean, wrinkle free, and without holes. The TJMUN staff strongly recommends wearing neutral colours such as navy, black, camel, and grey. Not only they are easy to pair, but also give you a professional look.

Position Papers

All delegates must submit one position paper per topic by the 6th of December. Send them to tjmun@itjqro.edu.mx under the heading "Position Paper (delegation and committee)". A position paper is a short essay detailing the country’s position toward a specific topic. The objective of writing position papers is to help delegates organize their ideas, aid in research and information synthesis, and add to the high debate quality of the TJMUN. In addition, position papers serve as a guideline to prepare speeches and address the committee. Position papers must have a specific format and should include particular information regarding the country’s position and the topic. You can find further information in here:
