About TJMUN
Thomas Jefferson’s Model United Nations & Organization of American States Conference (TJMUN) is an enriching simulation in which students from sixth to twelve grade assume the role of an international representative to discuss current global issues. Students learn to debate in order to, as a team, come up with realistic, viable solutions addressing the problem they are facing. In our diverse committee selection options, students get to choose what problem they wish to discuss and who they want to be, be it a delegate, a senator, an ambassador, a judge, a prosecutor, or a defense attorney.
TJMUN is a three-day event in which participants develop skills such as diplomacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, public speaking, negotiation, debate, and networking. Furthermore, attendees not only improve their level of English, but also strengthen their self-confidence. This Model’s purpose is to create a greater awareness of global issues by engaging topics concerning security, economic progress, and social development. Participants leave TJMUN motivated and eager to fight for what they believe is right.

Welcome to TJMUN XII
Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Parents,
On behalf of the whole team, I would like to give you the warmest welcome to the XII edition of Thomas Jefferson’s Model United Nations & Organization of American States Conference.
This year’s theme for our model will be focusing on inclusion. The lack of empathy inside our local and global society is sickening. Marginalized groups and minorities throughout history have always been brought down, excluded and silenced by strong political figures or even by powerful stereotypes and several stigmas that pollute our everyday way of living with each other. This issue has been ignored for far too long, and uprisings have been seen around the world. However, this is not enough. There are still many other sections of both the global and local population that are being denied the privilege of belonging to a civilized society where their rights are taken into account. To see this through, alliances among the people, government, and influential global NGOs, such as the UN and OAS, have to be present.
The main goal of TJMUN XII is achieving inclusion through the process of recognizing that while each human is not made the same, we all share one thing in common: the ability to change the world despite our differences. We seek to reach the end of apathy, as well as coming closer to living in not only an inclusive, empathetic country, but an inclusive, conscious world. All editions of TJMUN have always been characterized for providing attendees with the confidence to fight for what they stand for; as well as for teaching all delegates present to not only think about themselves, but their surroundings as well, by developing honest and fair judgements that will be part of them forever, forming conscious and socially responsible leaders with a creative and innovative mindset that will strengthen their problem-solving skills.
Delegates will finish the Model with a wider perspective of the world, as well as with a contagious urge to go after what they believe is right, a willingness to change what demands to be transformed. They will also comprehend how dangerous apathy is and how crucial it is to build an inclusive society through teamwork, for this aspect is essential to reach effective resolutions. Overall, attendees will live one of the most enriching experiences that will leave a long-lasting impact socially, academically, and most importantly, personally speaking.
We look forward to seeing you in our Model soon. Were you to have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at tjmun@itjqro.edu.mx. Passion is the fuel that moves our soul towards success, and I believe taking part in TJMUNXII is a perfect opportunity to find your own. Dare being the reason the future looks back at us with pride.
Best wishes,
Anet G.
TJMUN XII President
From the Vice President
Dear delegates, advisors and parents,
Welcome to the 12th edition of the Thomas Jefferson's Model United Nations & Organization of American States Conference.
Being part of and participating in the Model United Nations has changed my way of thinking and my perspective of the world. This year, as vice-president, my commitment and responsibility to develop an outstanding model will be of my utmost concern, just as it will be for the entire secretariat. Encouraging our delegates to grow has become one of the most important topics for this model, and overall I believe this year's Model has new proposals that will prompt people to take action and improve and further develop our society.
One of the main objectives of this model is to create true, tangible changes, as well as to make an impact in our society in ways that we have never seen before. Personally speaking, encouraging people that surround me to stand out from their peers is a very important responsibility and something that concerns me a lot, since many people have the belief that someone else will be there to save us all while expecting others to transform what each of us have the responsibility to change. Furthermore, the TJMUN secretariat has the task to create more conscious people and help develop their capabilities to improve our society. The entire team has worked hard to make this year's TJMUN pleasant experience for our participants and all other attendees. Above all, we seek to motivate their courage and desire to do something for their communities, be it within their school, family environment, or both. To achieve this, we will carry out a set of dynamics that will inspire them to cause a change in their mentality. Furthermore, we are willing to empower the TJMUN community to inspire the new generations of delegates, chairs, and participants to have a positive impact in our society.
TJMUN XII for me represents twelve years of shaping students to have the courage necessary to develop an honest and fair ability to judge decisions that can be applied in their day to day lives, resulting in them becoming leaders of true change. I want to share the love and passion that we have for this event with all ITJ students and participants from all over the nation.

Sincerely,
Manuel E. V.
TJMUN XII VICE PRESIDENT
